Situation and medium-term forecast

Weather conditions slowly start to allow more intense pollination!

In the coming days, temperatures will rise and reach values more typical for this time of the year. While the still ongoing rainfalls at the start of the week will still allow low to moderate burden only, rising temperatures will result in fast increasing allergenic burden.

Whilethe first half of the month was dominated by changing weather and low temperatures the conditions will get more stable during the next days. The early flowering birch trees already exhausted the majority of their flowering potential, the slower developing plants will lead to increasing burden and a second peak of the pollination period.

Due to cross reaction pollen from hornbeam, hop hornbeam and oak will increase allergenic burden of some birch pollen allergy sufferers as well.

The ash pollen season is ending slowly. Depending on the weather conditions and altitude low to moderate burden still has to be expected for some time.

Most of the plane trees are flowering. Allergenic burden has to be expected in close vicinity to large populations like avenues of plane trees.

The forecast data for the next phase of the pollen season, the readiness to flower for grasses, indicate a start for the beginning of May. This indicates an average start of the grass pollen season from a current point of view.

What else: The pollen spectrum contains pollen from yews, cypresses, poplar, maple, willow and walnut in addition, which is of a low allergological importance.

Note: The model results give an indication of the expected start of flowering, based on information provided by local pollen warning services with direct reference to the local situation. Readiness to flowering is not equal to the beginning of the pollen season. When the start of flowering is achieved, most of the plants can release pollen, but only when weather conditions are favourable.
