Pollenatlas

additional attribute: granulous plasma
note: similar pollen: other Quercus-speciesremarks to the plant:
The evergreen Holm Oak is a characteristic tree of the Mediterranean Macchia. Unlike most of the other Quercus species, the leaves are not lobed - some of the leaves are spiny - hence its specific name, derived from the Latin name of the holly. Flowering time is April/May. Male staminate flowers are elongated catkins, the females are long-stalked and stand single or in small groups.Quercus pubescens
species: Quercus pubescens (White Oak, Downy Oak)
plant family: Fagaceae
at aerobiological analyses usually achieved determination level: Quercus, (Fagaceae)photos: Landesagentur für Umwelt, Bozen (Italy)
description:
outline: in polar view rounded triangular, side view elliptical.
size: polar axis: 28.2 (26-30) µm, equatorial axis: 34.0 (32-37) µm.
apertures: tricolpate with acute, short, narrow, partly protruding colpi.
pollen wall: thin, scabrate to verrucate exine. Thin intine, thickened underneath the colpi, protruding.
note: similar pollen: other Quercus-speciesremarks to the plant:
White oak is a Mediterranean species, growing on dry, stony slopes where it often forms characteristic societies of bright woods with shrubs. Obovate to elliptic, but very various leaves with mostly 4 lobes on every side stand on hairy twigs. Lamina are dark-green above, glabrous, but pale-green and tomentose beneath. Flowering time is April/May. Male flowers sit in thin, drooping catkins. Fruits in 2-5 clusters, acorns egg-shaped.
