Distribution:
originally native to China and Vietnam, now cultivated almost everywhere in the world (Europe, America, Africa, Australia), sometimes invasive, in temperate or Mediterranean climate
Appearance:
medium-sized trees, pioneer plant because it can also be found in low-nutrient, dry locations, the grey-brown bark develops a diamond-shaped pattern as the tree ages, odd-pinnate leaves, leaflets elongated to oval, glands in the leaf base secrete sugars which attract ants, leaves do not change colour in the autumn and drop late in autumn, flowers are yellow with a strong smell, spirally twisted fruit with a central seed
Allergenicity:
a new potential allergen, skin reactions have already been described
