Mild problems

The use of an antihistamine in tablet form can be dispensed with according to medical advice on days with only a low pollen load and without discomforts.
Keep in mind your individual burden!
Patients who take medication should continue to record their symptoms daily.

Moderate problems

The treatment recommendations suggest that persons concerned use one tablet and one eye spray / drop daily containing the antihistamine drug during the pollen season regardless of the level of the pollen count.
If the symptoms do not improve, it is usually recommended to take another antihistamine tablet and / or drop / eye spray in the afternoon or evening.
In addition, a leukotriene receptor antagonist may be considered once a day in the evening, which is usually prescribed by the doctor with a corresponding dosage.
Patients with moderate symptoms should also be advised to discuss the specific initiation of immunotherapy with an allergist and / or an allergologically experienced physician.

Severe problems

Doctors usually recommend one to three tablets of antihistamine daily during a severe burden and regardless of the level of the pollen count. Patients should discuss this with their attending physician!
In addition, a leukotriene receptor antagonist may usually be taken in once a day in the evening.
The use of cortisone drops in the morning is recommended also on days with severe symptoms.
Patients should discuss all doses and the specific initiation of immunotherapy with the doctor, preferably with an allergist.
