Dieser POLLENATLAS enthält derzeit bereits über 90 verschiedene Pollentafeln mit Bildern und Beschreibungen der Pollen, die öfters in Luftproben anzutreffen sind.

    outline:     circular to ovate
    size: 39.3 (36-44) µm
    apertures: periporate pollen with numerous (about 11-15), circular to ovate pori, about 2-3 µm wide each. Pori are irregularly distributed over the pollen surface, mostly concentrated on one hemisphere.
    pollen wall: thin, psilate or scabrate exine; thin intine with flat germination marks (onci).
    additional remarks: similar pollen in the related genus Pterocarya, which is penta- or hexaporate

    outline:     circular
    size: 25.6 (23.7-28.7) µm
    apertures: inaperturate
    pollen wall: very thin, gemmate exine, fine nodula irregularly distributed over the surface, conspicuous thick intine (5-10 µm) with star-shaped plasma.
    note: The tenuous exine breaks easily, liberating the protoplasma. Very often the plasma is found detached from the exine in the microscopic slides.

    remarks to the plant:
    Common Juniper is an evergreen, mostly dioecious shrub or small tree with rigid leaves (needles) growing on dry slopes and in sunlit forests at colline and montane levels. Flower buds are already prepared in autumn, flowering time is April/May. Male inflorescences appear as small yellow conelets whilst females consist of scales which grow together during seed maturation, forming the fleshy, spicy black-blue “juniper berries”.
