Appearance:
deciduous tree, shiny green leaf blade with smooth margin but with slightly indented serration, the flowers appear at the same time as the leaves sprout, male flowers in dense bundles with long stalks, females erect flowers in twos and threes, shiny, chestnut-brown nuts (beech-nuts)
Allergenicity:
low, allergy may often occur due to a cross-reaction to birch pollen
